Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso tried to look on the positive side of his side’s 0-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-finals. Saying he had plenty of homework to study for. He also admitted he was late to the substitutions.

Madrid suffered their first defeat under their new manager. A result that could have halted their title hopes. Despite a game that was said to be inconsistent at the MetLife Stadium. สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน

However, the Spanish coach tried to find a positive after 90 minutes. Saying he would go back and improve before the new season starts.

Alonso said at a press conference:

“It’s a no-brainer to be eliminated. This tournament has taught me a lot about where we are and where we need to improve.”

“It gives me a clear idea of where we want to go next season. From now on, let the players recover and then we can talk about it again.”

“Next season will be completely different. This season is a clean slate.”

“We will memorize every bit of information we gain from this tournament. We want to build a team that plays as a group and where everyone contributes.”

The 43-year-old coach also explained that the substitution was delayed until the 65th minute, even though the score was 0-3 at halftime, because the team had changed their formation and wanted the players who had initially adopted the plan to take some time.

“I think we had to wait because at the beginning of the second half we changed the formation from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 with Gonzalo playing on the left,” Alonso added.

“We will go back and analyze the decision, which I choose to blame on myself.”

“It’s all one thing, so hopefully we don’t have to overhaul before next season – it’s going to be a fall and a rise, not a regression from the 1998 season.”

Madrid will let the players rest for at least 2 weeks , waiting to meet again at the end of July . The official La Liga debut game will be on 19 August against Osasuna .
